Question: Fun Question-If You Couldn't Have a Diamond, What Gem Would Sit In Your Engagement Ring?
( Back )
Answer #1:
White sapphire. Looks exactly the same as a diamond. If that wasn't available, then a lab-created ruby--I like the color better than a natural ruby.Answer #2:
Aquamarine! It's actually the stone I want, as I'm not much for diamonds (too pricey for me).I love garnets, but I look better in cool colors, and wear a lot of blue.
My other favorite is amber, but it's too soft for daily wear.
EDITE: I agree, Garnet...how do you thumbs-down a hypothetical preference on something as generally silly and fun as this???
Answer #3:
I like Tanzanite. Or Rubies.Answer #4:
I really love the color of emerald. They're a beautiful shade of green.Answer #5:
I would get a blue topaz. The aqua color is my favorite color, plus it's my birthstone. I do have a diamond engagement ring. It's funny, I guess I'm so traditional that I didn't even think about getting a different gemstone. Now I kind of wish I had, just to be different, but I love the ring I have and wouldn't trade it for anything!Answer #6:
Aquamarine or emerald (He gave me an emerald promise ring years ago and I no longer have it). I think most gemstones are beautiful so it would be picked for sentimental reasons.Answer #7:
I love the blue sapphires!Answer #8:
MoonstoneAnswer #9:
I'd actually go with a pearl. It's not a gemstone, but I think they're gorgeous and so classy. If I had to go with a gemstone, I'd probably choose white sapphire. Great substitute for diamonds.
Answer #10:
moissanite, which is clear like diamonds, or my bf's birthstone. or canary diamonds, I love that yellow stone against white gold.Answer #11:
Great question. I think I would choose a deep colored stone such as ruby or emerald. Im not much for light or pastel looking stones (not for on my hand anyway). Or maybe a white sapphire because thats like a diamond!I never thought I was much of a "diamond girl" before I got engaged. I always thought Id want a ruby or something. It wasnt until we went looking at engagement rings that it struck me how beautiful they are, and I changed my mind!
Answer #12:
I think I would get a pink sapphire! Fun but really beautiful too!Answer #13:
Pink and white sapphires! My engagement ring now is a center diamond with pink sapphire side-stones (I LOVE pink), and I love the look of it.
I might consider doing a center pink sapphire with white sapphires on the side ... kind of the reverse of what I have now. I think the sparkling white diamond with the pink sapphires just looks so classy, and yet princessy!
Answer #14:
blue sapphireAnswer #15:
I think a light purple stone. :) Pretty and still lighter in color.Answer #16:
A peridot combined with pearls. Some people say they don't fit together, but I love the combination, it's very unique and so me. I also love the color of peridot.Answer #17:
Blue sapphire, emerald cut, antique settingAnswer #18:
If diamonds were out of the question, I would go with the birthstone of the month during which my wedding took place. For me, that would mean I would have had a ruby engagement ring because I married in July.Answer #19:
Peridot, my birthstone :)Answer #20:
I would definately pick a sapphire. It was the engagement stone in the Victorian age and I absolutely love reading victorian literature. I actually wanted a wedding band in all sapphire, but couldnt find one in our budget. These jewelers kept trying to push me into diamonds! I have one diamond, thats enough! LOLAnswer #21:
I'd probably go for an aquamarine because its my husband's birthstone, and I've always loved that gem. I have 2 aquamarine rings already, and I wear them often. As an alternative, I'd go with whatever the birthstone was for February, as that is our wedding month.** Powered by Yahoo Answers
